THE HOOPING LIFE & WORLD HOOP DAY COMMUNITY PREMIERE CONTEST

When The Hooping Life and World Hoop Day and Hooping.org join forces, the result is a contest unlike any other. How would you like to bring the hooping popumentary film to your town on World Hoop Day: October 10, 2010 for the first community initiated screening of the film?

Here’s what you need to know. While the film can’t be screened without the $500 licensing fee, The Hooping Life has agreed to donate the licensing fee once it is raised and any surplus proceeds brought in from the screening to World Hoop Day to help promote peace and help get hoops to needy kids. Now that means, let’s say, that you need a minimum of 50 people at $10 a head to cover the screening fee, and when you’re coming up with your plan be sure to have that in mind.

Put your thinking cap on, drive around town, call a few friends and figure out what your plan would be to make a screening of The Hooping Life happen on World Hoop Day where you live. Be creative. Think outside the box too. Come up with cool ideas. And once you’ve got yours figured out, post it in The Hooping Life community forum here on Hooping.org. And while only one place can win this contest, we want you to know that everything posted to the contest, the resulting list of entries, will be seriously considered when future screenings are mapped out. WHY HOOPS?

Since 2006, World Hoop Day has been dedicated to bringing dance, exercise and toy hoops to under-privileged children living in extreme poverty and the under-developed neighborhoods of our world.  Founded by Annie O'Keeffe,  husband Kevin, and Groove Hoop friend Stefan Pildes, World Hoop Day is a not-for-profit organization that uses a community-based, grass roots approach to provide one-of-a-kind "hula" hoops.  The durable, adult-sized hoops can be used their entire life as a simple and effective way to bring joy to an otherwise devastating situation.

There are many aid organizations who provide food and medical relief, but what about the mental welfare of a child who grows up too quickly and hardly has a reason to smile or play or just be a child?  To date more than 13,750 hoops valued at more than US $83,000 have been given away.  Hundreds of World Hoop Day Ambassadors have donated thousands of hoops to beautiful children and their families around the world. 

The simple hoop has positive physical and mental health benefits, stimulates imaginations, and enables feelings of pure joy and bliss.  We give to honor gratitude, appreciation, healing and to promote world peace and harmony.  Every year for one day hoopers around the world gather in parks, beaches, community centers and schools to raise awareness of the need to stay fit with fun exercise, while giving back to their neighborhoods and raising funds to continue sending Ambassadors with Hoops to remote locations with children in need.  With your help, this charity can achieve its 2012 goal of world peace in a moment of silence for 12 minutes standing in circles around our globe.  Thank you for visiting our site.
